In the United States, the data collected by Republic Services illustrate the strong trend in home consumption and e-commerce during the pandemic, leading to a significant increase in the recycling of cardboard boxes (+63%), aluminium cans (+17%), as well as plastic (+7%) and glass (+13%) bottles last year.
In 2020, Republic Services also processed 20% more food and yard waste and recycled this organic material into more than half a million tons of nutrient-rich compost.
