A record year for the recycling of aluminum packaging

s'abonnerThe recycling rate for aluminum packaging in the UK reached a record 68% in 2021, with more than 156,000 tons collected for recycling (+3%/year), according to the Environment Agency.
More than four out of five beverage cans were recycled (82%), matching the record set in 2020. Aluminum packaging collected at the curbside increased by 5% (112,210), while tonnage recovered from incinerators increased by 2% (41,941). More than 88% was recycled on British territory, 12% was exported for reprocessing.
