Illig Packaging Solutions unveils its new management team

Matthias Holder succeeds Jürgen Lochner as CSO/CTO of thermoforming and packaging specialist Illig. Carsten Strenger, Matthias Holder and Thomas Schmidt form the new management of the German manufacturer of specialized machinery.

Illig packaging solution has made a change in management with effect from January 15^th, 2025. Mr. Matthias Holder (55) has taken over the dual position of Chief Sales Officer/ Chief Technology Officer from Jürgen Lochner, who is leaving the Heilbronn-based company after several years to pursue new career opportunities.

Matthias Holder will head the Sales, Technology and Service divisions at Illig. His initial focus will be on the strategic realignment of the global sales and service business in a challenging market environment. The successful market launch of the Illig Dry Fiber Systems for the production of sustainable packaging solutions made from dry natural fiber will be one of his key priorities. At the same time, business with the well-known portfolio of thermoforming and packaging systems has to be strengthened.

Matthias Holder has extensive experience in the printing and packaging industry as well as in mechanical engineering. He successfully led transformation processes in corporate groups and medium-sized companies. In his thirty-year career experience, he has worked for MAN Roland AG, Robert Bosch, Herma and the Loparex Group.

“Realigning Illig, technology leader and a well-known traditional brand is a challenging task. The international sales meeting held at our headquarters at the end of January was an ideal start to accelerate market development, in which we will respond flexibly and strategically to the requirements of customers and markets worldwide. I am particularly looking forward to launch our modular systems for the production of sustainable natural fiber packaging in the market,“ says Matthias Holder.

Futhermore, Jürgen Lochner, who has been Managing Director (CSO/CTO) at ILLIG since December 2020, will leave the company after handing over all topics and projects to his successor.

The management of Illig packaging solutions is represented by Carsten Strenger (CEO), responsible for production and commercial divisions, Matthias Holder (CSO/CTO), responsible for sales, service and technology, and Thomas Schmidt, who has been Chief Transformation Officer for the company since its restart as Illig packaging solutions in August 1^st, 2024.
