NETHERLANDS: New TF-BOPE film for frozen food
posted Monday 30 November 2020
Combining a new grade of polyethylene (PE) with innovative production technology, Sabic’s new sustainable film shows advantages over traditional blow PE film solutions, including significantly higher throughput and significant potential for down-gauging.
The TF-BOPE mono-band film structure of Sabic® LLDPE BX202, only 20 microns thick, reduces packaging material by approximately 35-50% compared to existing blow PE films. Among its other features, it offers tear direction, low tear strength and provides an easy unidirectional opening. Visibility on packaged products is much better due to higher light transmission and lower haze. Sabic is associated with film suppliers Ticinoplast and Plastchim-T, as well as Syntegon Technology. Syntegon successfully tested the film on its vertical form, fill and seal machines, featuring PHS 2.0 sealing technology which reduces the amount of tight film by 25% and increases the packaging speed up to at 25%. The tests achieved a constant speed of 130 bags per minute.
