UNITED STATES: High-end wines in bag-in-box
posted Monday 31 January 2022
Since the pandemic and the development of e-commerce, Lieb Cellars has offered six grape varieties from its Bridge Lane label in a 3-liter bag-in-box packaging, supplied by Rapak (TriMas Packaging).
A nylon-EVOH co-extruded film has been specially designed to provide an excellent oxygen barrier and high puncture resistance. Rapak also ensured that the surface of the film in contact with the wine was neutral in taste and allowed its aromas to be preserved. The film is also resistant to bending cracks to be protective during transport. Combined with the iTap high-flow single- or two-finger dispensing valve, the whole solution provides an excellent oxygen barrier, good directional flow, and easy consumer dosing. With the bag-in-box, the wine stays fresh even four to six weeks after opening. Weighing less than a glass bottle, the solution is also a more durable and economical alternative, generating less breakage.
