Parkside Flexibles has joined the HiBarFilm2 project, a consortium funded by Innovate UK to develop a high-barrier and high-performance mono-material for the food industry.
According to Parkside, HiBarFilm2 will be made by mixing a plasma-functionalized nanomaterial into a polyolefin before filming. The nanomaterials will be dispersed in a barrier coating and applied to the polyolefin substrate. Joining Parkside and Bangor University in the project are Recycling Technologies, Wells Plastics, Dunbia, Cambridge Nanomaterials Technology, Fre-Energy, Haydale Composite Solutions, and BASF.
